IEEE CT LMAG Luncheon Meeting – 18 July 2025

Report – IEEE CT LMAG Luncheon Meeting – 18 July 2025

The Life Member Affinity Group (LMAG) of the IEEE Region 1, Connecticut Section met on July 18th 2025 at the Casa Mia Restaurant within the Hawthorne Inn located at 2421 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, CT 06037. A total of 16 members attended the 2025 Kickoff Luncheon. The attendees included George Arnold, Vladimir Blasco, Paul Chuhnv, Gary Felderbaum, Lauren Gaunt, Marshall Greenspan, Andrew Grekas, Jeffrey Katz, Coleman Leviter, Krishna and Rao Pattipati, Philip Rubin, Thomas Saunders, Hemchandra and Rekha Shertukde, and Paul Zulpa.

The meeting began with an overview of the IEEE Organizational Structure and an introduction of the LMAG members in attendance presented by Hemchandra Shertukde, our LMAG President. This was followed by a presentation by our LMAG Vice President, George Arnold, who gave an overview of the goals of our LMAG organization and a summary of potential organizational activities. Jeffrey Katz then gave a summary of the National LM Evolution Conference that he and George Arnold attended on June 11th through 13th at the Tufts University Campus in Medford, Massachusetts. This was followed by an Introduction to the IEEE vTools software by Gary Felberbaum and, as a wrap-up, Marshall Greenspan presented a video by Geoge Carlin on his Philosophy for Old Age.

The meeting ended with an informal straw poll of the membership to get their feedback regarding the desired frequency of LMAG luncheon meetings and more structured business- type meetings to discuss topics of mutual interest and to review our organization’s progress towards meeting its established goals. The consensus of those present was that luncheon meetings geared towards social interactions should be held nominally twice per year and interleaved with the more-structured business meetings.

Towards this end, our next meeting was scheduled to be held at 4 PM in the Maker Space within the University of Hartford’s Hurley Center for Advanced Engineering and Health Professionals.
